The James Blake - Bon Iver comparisons are numerous, but we never actually expected these two crooners to collaborate. But they did: Fall Creek Boys Choir is the result.
I realized that this track has been receiving a lot of hate, so far that people have been calling it a “Frankenstein” of a collaboration between these two talented artists. Others, on the other hand, have called it “stunning.”
Personally, I am torn. There is definitely something ugly about several parts of this track. Those off-beat chords that hit at certain parts of the song are as jarring as jump cuts made in a terribly edited video - that’s not a good thing folks. Otherwise, being familiar with the style of these two, it worked nonetheless and I found something in it that I enjoyed.
Still though, we could have done away with the dog sounds.
